A truly rare second post in 24 hours but I have an urgent picture to share. I will post it while Jeff Goldblum tells us that "Life will find a way" in Jurassic Park, at the moment playing on my television. Goddamn you Ian, you are all too right.
Anyway, I came across this on a forum I participate in. I thought it was incredible.

Put a (historical) donk on it
The 1932nd Psalm
Hoover is my shepherd, I am in want
he maketh me to lie down on park benches
he leadeth me by still factories
He restoreth my doubt in the
Republican Party.
He guided me in the path of the
Unemployed for his party's sake,
Yea, though I walk through the alley of soup kitchens,
I am hungry.
I do not fear evil, for thou art against me;
Thy Cabinet and thy Senate, they do no discomfort
me;
Thou didst prepare a reduction in my wages;
In the presence of my creditors thou anointed my
income with taxes,
So my expense overruneth my income.
Surely poverty and hard times will follow me
And I shall dwell in a rented house forever.
Amen.

Election Day
Happy voting to all. I just wanted to rant on something that's been bothering me.
I asked a friend today if she voted and she did. But when I asked for who she wouldn't tell me. I don't agree with that. If you support a candidate, then you support their policies. If you consider this to be a private matter then would you ever go out and fight for what you believe in? Or would you be ashamed of what other people thought of you?

I observe high school classes to fulfill my Education minor requirements and today something interesting actually happened. Two kids came in to campaign for Obama and the class went into an uproar. When the McCain campaigner entered later he tried to sway the kids to his view but most stayed true. The student sitting next to me, named Devon, was firm in his resolve. Most of the kids just ignore me but Devon and I chatted about Obama's policies. And this coming from a group of seventh graders. I think I have some faith.

"Build Yourself"
In my last post I said that I was unemployed. I am technically unemployed but my father recently has been asking me on fridays to help him out. And so, I oblige.

I've long wanted to document what goes on over there so I brought my camera and played journalist pretty well.
Oscar is an illegal immigrant. He's told me his entire story of walking from Honduras where he's from through Mexico without any money. He then swam across the Rio Grande and walked to Houston to take a bus to New York. Oscar is ridiculous. He also tries to teach me Spanish, which I openly welcome. Oscar also bears a striking resemblance to the illegal immigrant version of one of my friend's older brothers.
Messico is the only actual immigrant I know to be from Mexico. His real name is Jose, but everyone calls him Messico. He's short and has a pot leaf tattoo. I'm usually hanging out with Messico and Oscar. If I'm not going out on deliveries or on the job site I am working with them in the yard.
In books and movies there is always a father figure. Well to me at the shop, Gino is the grandfather figure. He is from Agrigento in Sicily and loves to tell stories and impart wisdom. He is a true Italian immigrant, one of the last generations that missed the real Italian Diaspora of the early 20th century (like my own father). He can make some really beautiful handcrafted railings. Just hammer and fire.
Felix is the last worker who got hired and I know very little of him. I know that he is from Italy but lived in Argentina for his whole life before moving here. He smokes cloves and it makes the shop smell terrible. He also sings and looks just like Geppetto from Pinocchio.

First Post
This blog is starting as an output for whatever I feel like expressing. I will be sharing my thoughts and opinions, stories and happenings, and anything I decide is worth making it to this page.
As for my first formal post I will be sharing a short film I made on Saturday. Over the last few months I've gone from a steady job into unemployment. I've had quite a lot of free time to reflect and think about my situation.
